A Vertical Machining Center (abbreviated as VMC) is a highly automated and multifunctional CNC machine tool equipped with a tool magazine and automatic tool changer. DEED's vertical machining center is an efficient and high-precision machine tool. Common types of VMC machines include gantry machining centers, horizontal milling machines, and gantry planers. Different types of VMC machines have their respective advantages in use, and the specific choice needs to be made according to processing requirements and product types.
Based on Guideways
Vertical machining centers can be divided into hard guideways and linear guideways based on the form of their axis guideways. Hard guideways are suitable for heavy cutting, while linear guideways offer more sensitive movement.
Based on Spindle Speed
Vertical machining centers with spindle speeds ranging from 6000-15000 rpm are classified as low-speed types, while those above 18000 rpm are classified as high-speed types.
Based on Structure
Vertical machining centers can be classified into C-type and gantry-type based on their bed structure.
Gantry Machining Center
A gantry machining center is a piece of processing equipment aimed at large components, suitable for heavy industries such as aviation, aerospace, energy, and transportation. The features of a gantry machining center include a large worktable area that supports the processing of large workpieces, complex components with varying thicknesses and shapes, and deep-cut components. It also offers high processing efficiency and precision.
Horizontal Milling Machine
A horizontal milling machine is suitable for fields where the number of part processing is small, the structure is simple, and the material is single, such as the automotive industry and mold manufacturing. The characteristics of a horizontal milling machine include a small footprint, high processing precision, and suitability for processing small to medium-sized components.
Gantry Planer
A gantry planer is a high-efficiency machine tool suitable for processing large casting components. The features of a gantry planer include suitability for processing large components in length, width, and height, fast processing speed, and high efficiency.
An optical machine is a high-precision robotic arm that completes high-precision processing and measurement by controlling the movement of the robotic arm. In vertical machining centers, optical machines are generally not equipped. This is because vertical machining centers themselves already have high-precision processing capabilities and do not require auxiliary optical machines.
